Feb 8th, 2023: Hunger and Thirst for Righteousness

"Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled." - Matthew 5:6

How do we get hungry? Maybe we have gone without food for a period of time. It might be when we come to a friend's house, and the dinner smells delicious. Maybe we are staying outside on a cold day and looking in through a restaurant window.

What does it mean to be hungry for God's righteousness? We acknowledge that without it, we are suffering from spiritual starvation. In His righteousness, God prepares us for a fruitful and meaningful life.

How do we become thirsty? We neglect our body's need for fluid. We push and push, the day has gone by, and we hardly have anything to drink. Our mind becomes foggy, and our emotion now becomes impatient. Fatigue is settling in. We become thirsty because of the lack of personal discipline sometimes. Our soul needs to receive the endowment of God's Spirit when we experience the thirst for righteousness, not just for ourselves but the world.

What does it mean to be thirsty for God's righteousness? We will not give ourselves the privilege in being indifferent to the sufferings of others. We will seek ways to comfort and help others with refreshing experiences in their lives.
