Dec 3rd, 2022: Peace

It is fitting to think about Peace this Christmas. The whole world is uneasy about the threat of a nuclear war. We have not thought about the possibility of it for more than thirty years.

God wants us to have the chance to be at peace with Him and with one another, and that is a significant meaning of Christmas. The real war we have is one against ourselves. Our inability to find peace in life has robbed away our beauty and contribution to the world. Without the grace of God, we fight a losing battle against the selfish self.

Peace is the decision to accept what God has to offer in restoring humanity. That offer began many years ago when Jesus was born. To live in peace is to engage in what Jesus has done on our behalf.

Isaiah 9:6-7a

"For to us, a child is born,

to us, a son is given,

and the government will be on his shoulders.

 And he will be called

 Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,

 Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Of the greatness of his government and peace

 there will be no end."
