July 7th, 2022: Our Hearts

The heart has been used throughout human history to describe love.

We see it even in the new language of emoji as it evolves.

Another set of conditions of our heart describes its ability to do the opposite.

It calls for some solemn reflection, and we should learn how to discern it.

"For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false witness, slander." - Philippians 15:19

Evil thoughts happen more often than we prefer.

Our hearts can be so resentful, and they spur.

We can take another person's life with hatred.

When our hearts depart from God's initial design, and nothing is sacred.

We betray the beauty of human sexuality.

Our hearts lust after what will destroy human dignity.

We think we can lie and cheat to advance.

Our hearts now accept invites from the devil to dance.

We use our tongues to destroy one another with slander and wrongful witness.

We now open our hearts to an onslaught of spiritual unfitness.

So let us guard our hearts with God's power

So His love in our life will tower.
