May 27th, 2024: What Are We Really Fighting For?

People don't just fight for causes they believe in. They are fighting others' extinction and complete destruction. It started a while ago when I was baffled by the call to Refund the Police. Having a process to continue to reform law enforcement agencies is not a bad idea. Doing without them altogether is to deny the reality of human brokenness. Respect and appreciation for another human being have been violated when a crime is committed.

Ignorance and unawareness of human history have also played a big part in these protests. History did not just happen yesterday, last year, or ten years ago. Our educational system has failed our kids. They seem to be more interested in teaching our kids gender equality than teaching that all people have to be treated equally. That teaching has been there for many years.

More than 30 years ago, Vietnamese food was not that popular. As a kid, my wife used to think she would not like it. We are now living in a city where there is a Vietnamese restaurant in almost every single community. It is still amazing how "vermicelli bowls" and "pho" have become so popular. No protest happened. Just serving good food and they exist. Don't demand to be acknowledged. Just be good citizens with one another, and we get along fine.
