April 26th, 2024: Healing is God's Business

Yesterday, I met a friend near his home to catch up on his wife's cancer treatment and the latest updates from the doctor. Life remains a challenge for him as he chose to halt work to care for his wife. During our conversation, he shared about a new piece of artwork he created from wood he gathered for firewood. Personally, I find it beautiful.

He explained that while crafting it, the theme of healing emerged in his mind. Despite being weathered and damaged, the wood showed signs of restoration. He likened it to his own life—where dreams have been shattered, and he's felt overwhelmed by circumstances, yet finds solace in the words spoken by Jesus during the crucifixion: "It is finished." To him, it signifies that Jesus bore his suffering, and the price for all human suffering has been paid.

Many Christians claim to believe in healing, yet not all expect it. Some have witnessed God's healing in various aspects of their lives, whether instantly or over time. Reflecting on this artwork, I'm reminded that God is in the business of restoration. Let's approach it with confidence and expectation.

“When Jesus had received the sour wine, he said, ‘It is finished,’ and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit” (John 19:30).
