April 24th, 2024: Deception and Ungratefulness
Reflecting on this image from LinkedIn prompts me to contemplate the lack of gratitude in our culture. We often become oblivious to our self-serving desires, forgetting that our current status is the result of the hard work of many generations before us.
When we start believing that we deserve everything we have, we lose our capacity for gratitude. Ungrateful attitudes are unappealing, leading to destruction and deceit. Deception arises from our ability to deceive ourselves and others.
As we become unaware of our own contradictions, we compromise our integrity, leading to superficial lives where the understanding of right and wrong eludes us. In this state, we lack a voice and fail to make a positive impact on the world.
"But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people." - 2 Timothy 3:1-5
