April 10th, 2024: Reasons To Be Still

Finding stillness can be challenging in our culture, where productivity is often prioritized. Despite knowing the importance of managing our time, we sometimes neglect to set aside moments for quiet reflection. Just as Jesus withdrew from the demands of the crowd to commune with God, we often struggle to give our full attention to spiritual matters. Why is stillness important, one might ask?

At times, we may feel uncertain about the path God wants us to take or the actions He wants us to pursue. While we may know what is right, summoning the courage to act can be daunting. In these moments, stillness can provide clarity and strength.

There are moments when we find ourselves in difficult situations, unable to see a way forward despite seeking advice and analyzing the problem repeatedly. Stillness serves as a soothing balm during such times of trouble.

Additionally, when our plans for our families or workplaces go awry despite careful consideration, we may become anxious and overwhelmed. Stillness offers a reprieve, allowing us to approach our challenges with renewed understanding and perspective.

Psalm 62:5
"For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is from him."

Lamentations 3:25-26
"The Lord is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him. It is good that one should wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord."
