March 7th, 2024: Yield to God

"Not my will but yours be done." - Luke 22:42

We are amazed by the daily changes in my grandson. More expressions, more communication, more desire of his own, more preferences and more troubles :). If we can keep learning at his rate, we all will be geniuses.

One aspect of growing up is our ability to pursue our will and make choices. My grandson has his favorite toys and preferred food. We have choices about what we want to do in life, where we want to be, and whether we want God to have anything to say in our life.

Walking away from our own will demands humility, courage, and honesty. We won't be able to face ourselves if we are not honest. Giving up the images we create for ourselves and being true to who we are requires some courage. We can deal with all that has happened in our life with God's revelation of its essence. Humility opens the door for meaningful acknowledgment and corrections. We then might be more open to God's will being done in our life.
