March 5th, 2024: God's Will

How do we know that we are aligning with the will of God? We are not entirely free from self-preoccupation and self-absorption. Our desires are entangled with worldly things, and our concerns may not align with God's intentions for the world. That's why I find this verse challenging.

We cannot fulfill God's purpose without acknowledging the many gifts He has bestowed upon us. We need to be content with the gifts God has chosen to bless us with. We don't need to envy others. Thankfulness is the first step in aligning with God's will.

Next, we must consider the needs of others in our lives. It begins with those who work with us and live in our neighborhood. It can be overwhelming at times because the needs are increasing day by day. Discernment plays a significant role in going about God's will.

The final step is learning how to use our gifts to serve others in need. "Love your neighbor as yourself" is how we fulfill God's will. We don't need lengthy and complicated theological discussions. We just need to live out simple theological principles.

"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’
The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’There is no commandment greater than these." - Mark 13:30-31
