March 3rd, 2024: Dealing With Reality One Day At A Time

It's been snowing all weekend where we are. Some friends of mine in the southern US wonder what we do with all that snow. For Canadians, life doesn't stop because of heavy snowfall; however, it might slow down due to the carbon tax we have to pay to heat our living quarters. Sometimes, I wonder if our government has any plans to improve our economy besides taxing people left and right.

I've been working among the working poor folks in Canada—honest people who simply hope their income will be sufficient to provide for their loved ones. One of the casualties of carbon taxing is food prices: producers, processors, transporters, and grocers all get taxed. And this doesn't even consider those living on welfare or on the streets.

I've listened to people share their hardships with me. Some are more desperate than others, and emotions run high. Unjust and abusive policies and  treatments of our government can sometimes lead to violence. In the meantime we do our best to help these folks.

God will deal with ungodliness in His own way. Our task is to respond to the needs of others with what we know and can do. Grace is walking with those who suffer physically, emotionally and prayerfully. The snow storm will stop and the sun will rise tomorrow.

“But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its rays.” -
Malachi 4:2
