March 21st, 2024: Called to Freedom

"For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love, serve one another." - Galatians 5:13

What does it mean to be called to freedom? Our society has been advocating for various personal aspects of freedom. Is it really freedom we are looking for? Or just opportunities to live our lives the way we see fit? Much of our perceptions of freedom have to deal with the flesh. We have lost the freedom to consider the damages we might cause by pursuing the desires of the flesh.

Being called to freedom means embracing the grace of God fully in our lives. When we are able to do that, we will gain a true understanding of freedom. Being free to love lavishly is the outcome of being called to freedom. Being free to deny our desires to go after our own destructive indulgences is our personal discovery in being in love with God.

Being called to freedom is to accept our calling to make a difference in this world sacrificially. When we are free, we are no longer bothered by small-minded issues. We discover the greatness of God, and we want to enjoy ourselves in being in His presence. We will overcome the fear of the broken self.
