March 20th, 2024: Lost Freedom

This is an incredible picture of how a heron was killed in mid-flight. It thought it had a free passage to fly home. Many of its companions felt the same way. It was not the case.

How about us? How do we lose our freedom? Freedom is what we cherish most by living in the 'free world'.

Freedom can be lost due to government oppression. Many of us feel that way lately in Canada due to a series of unjust bills introduced by the current government. They take away our individual rights and civil liberties. It continues to erode the middle class and create greater economic inequalities.

Freedom can be lost due to our technological development. It is a lot easier now to spy on people and infringe on privacy. We are now easily manipulated because of the existence of social media. Propaganda has become more common in different segments of society.

Freedom can be lost when we lose who we are in God. We will continue to search for meaning and purpose in a world that has no desire to acknowledge our eternal values. We fight for what we perceive as freedom, only to discover that we dig deeper into our self-imposed slavery. Our pathway of life will be snapped by a destructive force.
