Feb 20th, 2024: Our Refuge and Our Comfort

This picture was taken by one of my brother's friends during his most recent trip to Vietnam. Wearing a hat in Vietnam is non-negotiable considering the weather. I love those traditional conical hats because they're comfortable and practical.

Water won't damage those hats; they are waterproof because of the material. They are also comfortable to wear even when we sweat under heat, and wind can find ways to go through them.

They are inexpensive to make, using materials like coconut leaves, bamboo stalks, and some threads, which are abundant in Vietnam. Yet, they are useful to shield us from both rain and heat.

Similarly, the Holy Spirit needs to be our spiritual hat. It is non-negotiable that we have access to Him in our lives. He will guide and protect us in all circumstances. Day and night, we need to depend on Him. Our spiritual hat will grant us refuge, comfort, and rest.

"For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places." - Ephesians 6:12
