Jan 5th, 2024: SHREDDING

I've been shredding some old files as part of transitioning to a paperless filing system. It feels liberating to discard bureaucratic materials that are no longer necessary. This act of shredding parallels the need for personal renewal and shedding emotional baggage.

Shredding serves as a metaphor for preparing ourselves for a fresh start. Throughout life, we accumulate emotional and mental clutter, possibly exacerbated by unhealthy habits. New Year's resolutions often signify our intention to discard these burdens.

This process of shredding mirrors spiritual renewal, where we discard undesirable aspects of our lives to make way for spiritual transformation.

Just as my filing system has categories, sins also come in various forms - from malicious intent to ignorance, indifference, pride, and self-condemnation. Determining which one to 'shred' largely depends on personal reflection and the aspects hindering our spiritual growth.

"You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness." - Ephesians 4: 22-24
