Dec 5th, 2023: Darkness Cannot Overcome Itself

"Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that." - Martin Luther King Jr.

Hate is becoming more acceptable on our university campuses these days. Some university students have protested over issues where their knowledge is superficial. As a society, we have been driven by hatred because we have been manipulated by those who live in darkness.

Our understanding of love is often self-serving. We talk about love as if it is something we can attain, yet we don't know how to love until we ourselves are loved. Love is more than just a feeling; it requires a spiritual awareness of how God has loved us by creating us in His image. Unsatisfied with being in the likeness of God, we seek to be gods ourselves.

Effectively addressing hate requires allowing ourselves to be touched by God's grace. A violent heart is one that has denied God's compassion and forgiveness. Our violence reflects a world that has lost its way.

Christmas is a celebration of the overcoming of darkness. Hate will be erased as God calls us back to Himself.

"For it is you who light my lamp; the Lord my God lightens my darkness." - Psalm 18:28
