Dec 30th, 2023: The Nourishment of Our Souls

 

"Kindness nourishes your soul, while cruelty destroys it." - Proverbs 11:17

Today, kindness seems scarce. It evades us when we relentlessly pursue our privileges and rights, when we view others as inferior, or when we mistake niceness for true kindness.

Many global issues stem from the poverty of the human soul. Celebrating others' suffering diminishes a part of our own essence. Finding pleasure in others' downfall strips away our humanity.

Cruelty ravages the beauty of God's creation, embodying the essence of evil with its void of goodness. It signifies the demise of the soul. Being cruel blinds us to recognizing God in others and within ourselves.
