Dec 29th, 2023: Protest in Ignorance

Individuals possess the right to protest provided they understand the cause they support; protesting without proper knowledge can be concerning due to potential manipulation. Numerous protests occur on university campuses where many students lack a firm grasp of world history.

Discovering that teacher college students in BC aren't encouraged to discuss the Holocaust while encouraged to address the impact of Residential Schools on First Nations is disturbing. This imbalance raises questions about our education system's deviation from prioritizing foundational knowledge. It prompts concerns about whether educators are becoming vehicles for indoctrination and whether the educational system is failing in fostering civil engagement on contentious subjects among the youth.
