Dec 28th, 2023: What If...

We've delved into the situation involving Dr. Claudine Gay, Harvard's President, who faced accusations of plagiarism in her doctoral thesis and other research articles. Although the Harvard Corporation cleared her of academic misconduct, it acknowledged her failure to provide proper citations in some of her works.

Ongoing discussions reflect concerns about the investigation's thoroughness and fairness, with some questioning whether her students would face more stringent consequences for similar issues. There's also critique about the absence of involvement from the university's research integrity unit in the investigation.

The prevailing question emerges: "Would someone else in Dr. Gay's position, especially if they were male, jewish and white, be treated differently?" Additionally, there's scrutiny over whether Harvard Corporation's acknowledgment of its shortcomings represents an integrity lapse in handling the situation.

These developments indeed reflect the complexities of our current times when truth is hard to find.

"Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace." - Ephesians 6:13-15
