Dec 16th, 2023: An Unexpected Conversation

Listening to a widow striving to hold her family together provided profound insights into the intricate relationship between love and grief. Married for 20 years and nurturing four children, she leans on her deep faith in God, seeking to traverse this painful phase with unwavering hope and conviction.

Left with the responsibility of raising her children, she endeavors to maintain emotional composure. Our discussion touched upon the importance of self-care and discerning conflicting inner voices that breed self-blame and doubt.

Throughout our conversation, her palpable connection with God was unmistakable. She candidly acknowledged her uncertainties and contemplations about charting a path forward. We delved into the paradox of existing between the already (celebrations like Christmas and Easter) and the not yet (the anticipation of Jesus's Return).

This was a candid and uplifting exchange, leaving me grateful for the honest connection forged.

Psalm 73:26 - “My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”
