Dec 12th, 2023: What A Joke?

The recent announcement about Canada's New Dental Plan for seniors aged 87 and older with an income under $90,000 by December 2023 leaves me torn between laughter and sorrow.

During Christmas, we celebrate the profound gift of Jesus, yet this governmental news isn't the kind of gift resonating with the spirit of the season.

Statistics show a male's life expectancy in Canada is around 81.75 years as of 2020. It feels as though our leadership underestimates our intelligence. Rather than a thoughtful gesture, this initiative comes across as an affront, as many seniors struggle with basic necessities like food and shelter due to recent government policies.

Why prioritize dental care for those who may not even have the means for basic sustenance? These policies reflect a lack of empathy and accountability, highlighting a broader societal disconnect. It's a testament to how far we've strayed from compassionate governance.

Canada needs to prioritize its citizens' fundamental needs before we risk becoming a global mockery. This should be a time for self-reflection and reconsideration of our priorities

"And the testimony is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son." - 1 John 5:11
