Nov 9th, 2023: How Do We Hear God?

How does God communicate with us? At times, His voice may emerge in the midst of our conversations with people. Occasionally, we hear Him during solitary walks or in the quiet of the night. In our personal devotion, God also unveils deeper truths about Himself, us, and the world.

Perhaps the question isn't solely about how God communicates but also about our readiness to listen. Our prayers ought to be more God-centered than self-centered.

How do we receive and engage with God's guidance? Are we willing to deny our own desires to embrace what God has in store for us? After all, we wouldn't decorate a new home with a pile of garbage. God desires to dwell within us, so let's prepare ourselves to be that sacred place.

Understanding God's comfort is vital. God doesn't offer comfort so we can remain indifferent to the suffering of others. We truly hear God when we align ourselves with His ways of addressing the brokenness of our world.

Remember, nothing in this world is permanent, but our personal relationship with God is. Listening to God is an investment in the eternal, a path away from the fleeting temptations of the temporal world.
