Nov 7th, 2023: Being Blind and Conceited

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud." - 1 Corinthians 13:4

Patience is the result of choosing to walk alongside another person during their suffering. It's not about having all the answers or solving problems; rather, it's the commitment to be there without knowing the outcome. Unfortunately, patience has become scarce in today's transactional human relationships. Many won't stay committed unless they see something in it for themselves.

Kindness manifests in our willingness to assist others before they even have to ask. Its roots lie in prayer; when we pray for one another, we often receive more than we expect. Kindness means embracing the divine presence in each person, which broadens our perspective and warms our hearts to the vastness of God's love. Additionally, kindness is contagious, spreading its warmth to others.

Pride stems from the inevitability of death. When we let pride take over, we lose touch with our true selves and disregard the divine trust placed within us at creation. This self-destruction caused by pride leads to darkness. Proud individuals are inhospitable and conceited, causing blindness to God's presence and goodness.
