Nov 29th, 2023: Thoughts on Video Gaming

Recent research has consistently shown a correlation between excessive video gaming and both depression and anxiety. The portrayal of excessive violence in these games has been identified as a contributing factor to feelings of depression. Moreover, excessive time spent playing video games may lead to serious social isolation and heightened anxiety.

I've observed that some young drivers seem to operate their vehicles as if they're playing a video game. They exhibit little concern for the potential harm they might cause, perhaps due to the belief that they can easily repair any damages by a simple click of a button. This attitude diminishes the seriousness of their actions.

Certain video games enable players to adopt different identities, allowing for role-playing across genders or even multiple identities. This phenomenon raises the question of whether we've witnessed similar identity fluidity in real-life scenarios, where individuals switch identities without the need for validation.

It's possible that many individuals treat life as an endless video game. In the Christian faith, our individual actions and choices are often paralleled with spiritual significance, guiding our behaviors beyond mere gameplay

"So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them." - Genesis 1:27
