Nov 22nd, 2023: The Dynamics of Hatred

The news we currently consume is rife with hatred. For many of us, this period feels unprecedented. Everyone appears to harbor grievances or complaints about something or someone. Anger has superseded our capacity to listen, and our lack of historical knowledge has misled us. How can we decipher the dynamics of anger in today's world?

Perhaps, fear should be the initial consideration. Why have we become so apprehensive of one another? Somehow, we have failed to recognize the delicate balance between acceptance and disagreement. Disagreement is an inherent aspect of our flawed world, stemming from its imperfections. Yet, we can coexist while disagreeing. Acceptance should be grounded in the belief that everyone is created by God.

Anger is another crucial emotion to examine when dealing with hatred. It might stem from personal responses to mistreatment and unfair judgments. Additionally, anger can be rooted in our history and cultural heritage, a reaction to an unjust and imperfect world. In such a world, some individuals will mistreat others, view themselves as superior, or believe they deserve everything they possess. However, if we fail to retrace our steps, anger can lead us into a dead-end.

Prejudice is prevalent, experienced by most of us in one way or another. It arises from our deep-seated insecurities and the urge to feel more powerful than others in coping with those insecurities. Some even attribute prejudice to God, claiming that He grants certain individuals more privilege than others, considering them as specially chosen. A life governed by prejudice follows a narrow pathway and isolates the individual. A prejudiced mind is a deprived mind.

Therefore, let's contemplate these thoughts before we harbor hatred towards another person. Justice belongs to God, and contentment is a gift we receive by resting in His grace. His love can help us overcome all fears."

Proverbs 10:32

"Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all offenses."
