Nov 21st, 2023: Learn as We Travel

Traveling to small towns in Southern Ontario brought us some degree of comfort this past week. It was good to experience the simplicity of life after having dealt with its madness. We decided to take small highways and travel from one small town to the next. The beautiful and rich farmlands reminded us of the goodness of God. We were so excited to enjoy more than five types of apples.

Our sinful condition has made life more complicated than God desires. We scream for our rights and privileges without appreciating that the life we have is a gift from God and the outcome of the hard work of many others. We have all the time in the world to pursue selfish desires and preferences. We name them as our new identities, but they are not. We simply concoct terminologies to mask our brokenness.

We were around Hamilton, known as a blue-collar workers' town. It used to be the hub of the steel industry in Canada. People here don't seem to have a positive view of Torontonians. They take pride in hard work. We never thought we would enjoy our visit as much as we did, which revealed our unfair preconceived notions as well.

“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” - Lamentations 3: 22-23
