Nov 20th, 2023: Grey Cup's Reflection

Well, it was a good game. This year's Grey Cup game has proven that experts can be deadly wrong. Many were talking about Winnipeg's Blue Bombers dynasty and how it would resume yesterday. It didn't. It was the second year in a row Winnipeg lost the championship game in the last minute. Maybe we should talk about how it builds a reputation for losing the Grey Cup to what appeared to be lesser opponents.

What do we learn from these lessons?

Take nothing for granted and be prepared at all times to deal with the evil one. Focus on the game plan that God has for us. Good football teams win one down at a time. We live out God's plan one moment at a time.

Don't be afraid that evil might appear to be strong in the world today and think it is winning. Foolishness is defined by making wrong and unaware assumptions about who God is and how He can work through His people.

There will be mistakes. Winning teams do make them. However, they don't affect the outcome of the game because they overcome them. Christians are overcoming people because of what Jesus has done for us. Our lives will be seen and understood by redemption and freedom from the outcome of our sins.

Please understand that any analogy has its limits. I don't necessarily see the Winnipeg Blue Bombers as the team of the dark side.

"Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching." - 2 Timothy 4:2
