Nov 10th, 2023: The Silence of God

Some readers inquired about my yesterday blog on the Silence of God when we pray. Indeed, there are moments when we feel unable to hear God or perceive His interest in our concerns. This topic is intricate, and let's begin by exploring why, at times, we fail to hear anyone at all.

Our preoccupation with personal troubles creates a barrier, allowing only the troubling noise of our own spirit and heart to penetrate. We become overwhelmed by our entanglement in this troublesome world, attempting to navigate independently as we anticipate God might challenge us to relinquish our desires if we embrace His path.

A resentful heart takes root as envy and jealousy infiltrate our being. Doubting that what God has granted us is sufficient, we covet what others possess. Prayer transforms into a demand for fairness from God rather than a genuine connection.

Perhaps His silence is a necessary pause for us to learn stillness and deepen our faith. In this silence, profound questions emerge, requiring nothing less than utmost honesty to address. Waiting for God's answers becomes intertwined with understanding unresolved issues in our lives.

"Your eyes are too pure to approve evil,

And You can not look on wickedness with favor.

Why do You look with favor

On those who deal treacherously?

Why are You silent when the wicked swallow up

Those more righteous than they?"

Habakkuk 1:13
