Oct 17th, 2023: Remembrance

I was in Montreal this weekend for the Memorial Service of my parents and one of my father's brothers. It was a time for us siblings to reconnect and remember their impacts on our lives.

Remembrance allows us to connect with the past, understanding our roots and offering heartfelt gratitude.

It provides opportunities for personal growth by learning from past mistakes without holding onto resentment, offering valuable historical perspectives.

Remembrance reaffirms our identity, encompassing both cultural and spiritual aspects, making it a profound experience.

It helps us appreciate and comprehend our ethical and moral values, gaining insight into our parents' perspectives.

Through remembrance, we can seek healing and restoration in our own personal history, recognizing that brokenness is a part of any family.

It serves as a commitment to plan for the future with corrections, encouraging us to engage with future generations more reflectively.

Remembrance instills a deeper sense of gratitude in its proper perspective, promoting a healthy way of living life through thankfulness.

“I am reminded of your sincere faith, a faith that dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice and now, I am sure, dwells in you as well.” - 2 Timothy 1:5
