Sept 6th, 2023: Our Calling

"As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received." - Ephesians 4:1

This was Apostle Paul's encouragement to believers in Ephesus. What does it mean to live a life worthy of the calling we have received?

Humility: Paul knew that he was saved by grace alone. He understood his own sinful condition. Our calling is not based on our merit but on God's gracious plan for the world. Self-seeking and self-serving have no part in our calling.

Patience: To be patient means to join in the suffering of others while waiting on God. Our calling is not to be indifferent towards the suffering of the world. We join in Jesus' suffering for the world.

Love: Love holds everything together. Without love, there is no truth within us. Love demands complete commitment to our calling. We make a difference in the world that is full of confusion and hatred.
