Sept 5th, 2023: Counting the Cost

In footsteps of Jesus, we tread,
A path must travel, where souls are led.
The cost of following Him, we must weigh,
For it demands our whole life, we must obey.

Silver and gone we have none, not one earthly gain,
Our heart transformed, released from pain.
To carry our crosses, it is some load,
And walk beside Jesus on a challenging road.

The cost is to learn how to love,
Extend grace to those we seem to be above.
Forgive others, as we are forgiven,
Find strength when we are broken.

The world will scorn, and trials may surround,
But in our faith, love abound.
Scacrifice in service, we must insist,
Life with Jesus may have many twists.

We count the cost, with our eyes on God,
Shining in His love and mercy, we applaud.
Challenges will arise, we won't be lost,
Our eternity is with Him, it's worth the cost.

"For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it? Otherwise, when he has laid a foundation and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish.’" - Luke 14:28-30
