Sept 2nd, 2023: Hot Christians

We grow chili peppers every summer. It is a spice that many cultures cannot do without in their cuisines. They are not big, and birds and animals don't like them, so they grow quite well in our garden. Sometimes I wonder what impact we would have on the world if we were like chili peppers.

We grow quite well in hot weather. We can endure the hardship of hail and heavy rainfall. We grow in bunches. We thrive in the challenging hot sun. When we are ready, we are covered in a bright red color. It is the redness of the Holy Spirit.

It does not take a lot of chili peppers to spice a dish. Christians can truly influence their working environment. We don't have to be seen to make a difference. Chili peppers bring out the depth and richness of any recipe. Many Christians have been able to reveal God's beauty and power in the world.

We can pickle chili peppers. They won't lose their spicy impact. We can get older and yet have more influence. Our ability to make a difference continues to grow. Preserved chili peppers can be kept for a long time. A godly presence can have a voice in many generations to come.

Psalm 121:1-2 - "I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth."
