Sept 16th, 2023: Spirituality Practices

I'm writing this while waiting for a cleaning appointment at my dentist's office. Personally, I don't jump up and down with joy with this type of experience. It is a needed exercise pertaining to having good health.

We are willing to go through these types of practices because of their benefits. Why are we so resistant to embrace spiritual practices and exercises that enlarge our spiritual capacity and deepen our spiritual roots? What are they, by the way? You might ask.

Being still in the presence of God: We wake up every day, and the first thing that comes to our minds is the agenda for the day. Sometimes, God does not make it into that agenda. The practice of being still is to learn how to turn the day back to God with the understanding that He is in control. We cannot hear Him without being still.

Pondering on His Word: It might not be a bad idea to allow God to speak into our lives via His Word. We can spend many hours reading through many reports so that we can do our work well. Yet, we hardly spend enough time reading and studying God's Word so our life might have more impact on others.

Praying as having a conversation with God: Churches have done us a disservice by making praying so religious. Freedom to pray is the affirmation of a personal relationship with God. It is not about telling God what we need, how we feel, what we are worried about, and more. It is about having faith that God knows all of that and desires to walk with us through all of them.

I am looking forward to having cleaner teeth at the end of this appointment. We should consider making an appointment with God more often for a cleaner soul.

"All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work." -  2 Timothy 3:16-17
