Oct 1st, 2023: Cold Spiritual Climate

A quiet fall morning as the rain starts coming down, and I watch two squirrels chasing each other across the yard. They are also digging and hiding their food for the winter behind our shrubs and plants. It is indeed getting colder.

The winter of the spiritual condition of the western world is here. Many of us have felt the bitter cold from the social climate. It is challenging to move and to know how to present ourselves spiritually in the absence of godliness. We feel exposed by the bitter cold from the indifference towards God.

Some Christians have decided to hide and become spiritual hermits. We think we will be safe if we don't get out there, and it won't impact us. The harshness of social and cultural attacks is more trying, we think. We start thinking survival instead of being alive in God. We are not quite sure how to live through the barrenness of this season of faith.

What does it mean to put on the armor of God in this spiritual battle? Dress properly in prayers and in a biblical understanding of the real enemy. It is not people; it is the principality of this world. Keep moving forward with our convictions despite the condemnations we might face. Don't seek respectability; seek obedience on the road less traveled by many.

We are ready for the winter of the human soul. We will do better than surviving. We will thrive and be full of life when the spring of spiritual renewal comes. How about you?

"Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes." - Ephesians 6: 10-11
