June 6th, 2023: God Brings Cleansing Fires

 

Forest fires are stubborn.

The orange sky continues to burn.

The air is heavy.

Our bodies are weary.

The heat is more intense.

Cancellation takes place in many events.

Forest fires can also cause many other damages.

Many towns have to deal with their own carnage.

Our sinful condition has similar consequences.

Life is now one big pretense.

Our hearts are aching for more.

We are at a loss for what to adore.

Our bodies feel the agony of life.

It cuts through our hearts like a knife.

We cry out for God in the middle of the night.

Give us understanding and insight.

God speaks to us with all of His might.

His truth and mercy will be our power to fight.

Our wickedness damages our security and balance.

His nudging slowly erases our nonchalance.

The smoke will wash away the muggy sky.

The Holy Spirit will heal our eyes from being blind.

"John answered and said to them all, “As for me, I baptize you with water; but One is coming who is mightier than I, and I am not fit to untie the thong of His sandals; He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire." - Luke 3: 16
