June 30th, 2023: Hunger and Thirst for Righteousness

"Blessedness are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they will be filled." - Matthew 5:6

This verse presents a profound challenge to our modern world. In our current society, the pursuit of righteousness often takes a backseat as we prioritize our own desires, attempting to redefine ourselves outside the realm of God's design.

However, it is crucial that we make pursuing righteousness our top priority. We cannot simply rearrange our exceptions to suit our own preferences, as this will only lead to a disarrayed moral compass.

The imagery of hunger and thirst in this verse signifies an intense craving for righteousness. To truly satisfy this longing, we must strive to deepen our relationship with God continuously.

When our hearts are indifferent towards God's instructions, we are unable to wholeheartedly pursue righteousness. It is through this indifference that we begin to understand why our world is engulfed in such chaos and disorder.

The pursuit of righteousness is not a one-time event but an ongoing exercise for those who have faith. Only when we align our hearts with the heart of God can we fully embrace the true essence of this pursuit.
