June 26th, 2023: Struggling in Difficult Time

Going through a difficult time is challenging for many of us. Many questions will arise, and many emotions will surface. If we truly don't acknowledge the implications of sin in this world, we should not be surprised when it happens. It is a fallacy to assume that life will always work to our advantage and benefit us. So what happens when we go through such a time?

We struggle because we believe that we have done what God has asked of us. Our paradigm of faith is being questioned. We would like to have some answers, and yet none can be found. It just does not make sense. It is part of our spiritual desert.

A hard time becomes more challenging when loneliness surfaces at the same time. We want to feel God's presence, and yet He seems to be silent. There will be sleepless and restless nights. Surrendering ourselves is the only option we have left. We know it in our hearts, and we fight it with our minds.

Rejection is another factor that causes us pain. Sometimes we carry this pain alone. We believe that God understands it, but that doesn't take away its severity. More seniors have passed away in loneliness than we are willing to admit. It is a moral pandemic that has no vaccination. We cannot vaccinate against sin.

“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” - James 1:2-4
