June 21st, 2023: Being Rooted Part 1

The Bible contains several passages that emphasize the importance of being rooted in one's faith and relationship with God.

1. Colossians 2:6-7:
"So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness."

Being rooted means being taught. "Who are our teachers?" might be the most important question we need to ask. Our thankfulness shoukd be the outcome of our rootedness. Now we have both inward and outward commitments and manifestation.

2. Psalm 1:1-3:
"Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither—whatever they do prospers."

Being rooted is to despise sin and all its cunning temptation. Being delighted in God is to be immersed in His law. We need to be sure where we plant our lives so we can grow and prosper spiritually.
