June 13th, 2023: To Be in the World, Not to Be of It

 

It is the Christian calling to be in the world and not to be of it. How can we do that?

Our aim for excellence: If we commit to living for God, we should give Him our best in whatever we do. A mediocre offering does not glorify God.

Seek God's approval, not the world's: the world's standards continue to change. God's words won't. Sometimes our desire to be respectable has made us ineffective as Christians.

Learn from wise men and women who have proven records of faithfulness in their lives. We cannot teach if we have no accountability for our spiritual development.

Permit ourselves to fail while learning to serve God: We continue to learn many valuable lessons from failures. God is much bigger than personal fears. We will embrace God's grace more intensely when failing no longer has the final say.

"Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will." - Romans 12: 2
