July 1st, 2023: Mercy

"Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy." - Matthew 5:7

To truly embody mercy, it is important to consider these aspects:

1. Understanding: In order to show mercy, we must first seek to understand the experiences and struggles of others. By gaining a comprehensive picture of people's lives, we can avoid making hasty judgments. Understanding fosters compassion and allows us to empathize with others.

2. Forgiveness: Forgiveness is like clearing the path, enabling us to better discern how to assist those in need. It brings forth patience and understanding, acting as a bond between individuals. Through forgiveness, we can establish a stronger and healing relational foundation.

3. Living for others: Mercy requires selfless service and sacrifice. Showing mercy means uplifting others, even in the face of adversity. A merciful heart is capable of finding hope in the midst of hopelessness and purpose in times of confusion. In certain instances, mercy can make all the difference between life and death.
