May 27th, 2023: Affirming?

"It feels right, so it should be right."

We have heard this statement often when we try to find ways to justify ourselves. It is hard knowing how to define morality according to our feelings alone. Yet, many of us still get trapped by such a thought.

"We need to affirm people regardless of our differences."

We have this statement heard more and more. We see churches calling themselves "affirming churches" as they have decided to discard the teaching of the Bible concerning many of our contemporary phenomena. We have moved from tolerating evil to affirming evil. What are we affirming anyway?

"Don't be narrow-minded and get on with the trends of the day."

Well, this kind of sentiment has been around for a while. Taking a stand on what is true does not make me a bigot. If we cannot tolerate honesty in our discussion about truth, we might have drunk the Kool-aid of lies. Truth and lies don't dance well together.

John 16:13

"When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears, he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come."
