May 19th, 2023: Looking in Mirror

I asked some young men: "Who did you see when you looked in the mirror this morning?"

It was a challenging question for many of us because of all the lies we have heard about ourselves. Some of them are external, and some are internal.

Lies exist because we are not content with who we are and where we are at this point in life. We spend so much time thinking about what is missing and fail to appreciate what God has given us.

Lies happen when our priorities are not in line with what God has intended for us. Sometimes we place things above relationships. Sometimes see life experiences according to our human desires.

Lies take place when we entertain jealousy. We think we should deserve better, and it is unfair that we have to deal with our unhappiness.

So what do we see in the mirror? Distorted images of ourselves? If we are honest, we suffer from some distortion; otherwise, advertising will not work.
