May 10th, 2023: Commit Our Work to God

I was watching a TV program about Hayley Wickenheiser this past weekend. She is a Canadian hockey superstar and a physician. Her hockey career is a landmark for the Canadian Women's National Teams. Here are the points I took away from watching her interview.

Don't let other people take away what you believe you can do. She played hockey at a time when young girls were not encouraged to play the game. She endured ridiculous rudeness to become a star.

Believe in commitment and hard work. Hayley was an example of that during her playing time. She pursued her medical training with the same discipline. Her commitment to excellence helps her rise above others.

Be thankful and learn to give back to society. Giving back has been the central theme of life for her. She did that as a player and continues to do so as a doctor and Toronto Maple Leaf VP of Player Development.

Why her life story touches me? I believe that God desires for us to live our lives with a conviction of what we are about, our commitment to hard work, and have thankful hearts so we can give back to others. We need to embrace others with God's blessings.

Proverbs 16:3

"Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established."

Colossians 3:23

" Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men."
