May 1st, 2023: Anchor of Our Soul

I saw this picture in a Men washroom in our church. The complete sentence is: "We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure." What do we mean by hope?

Hope brings life. Our hope for eternal life is the anchor of our soul. It helps us to have better direction and greater purpose.

Hope brings clarity in the midst of changes. It is the anchor that will hold stability and security when everything else is changing. We might be surprised by changes, and God is not.

Hope protects from discouragement when things are not going well. It helps us to look beyond the present moment with the conviction that we will make it.

Jesus is that anchor. He gives us firm answers for life, guides us through our uncertainty, and protects us from our insecurity. Our soul will be able to rest with that anchor.
