April 13th, 2023: Making Promises

 

In life we make many promises.

We carry our some, and some we will miss.

Sometimes we make promises with good intent.

Other time they are unwisely sent.

Sometimes we make promises to keep people at bay.

Sometimes we use promises because we have nothing to say.

Good promises build and nurture our relationships.

Others often can cause further hardship.

We need to learn the discipline of our tongues.

Otherwise, sad melodies will be sung.

Well-kept promises reveal the beauty of commitment.

We build our life journey with others in confidence.

"Let what you say be simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything more than this comes from evil." - Matthew 5: 37

"So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets." - Matthew 5: 12
