March 24th, 2023: Sink Into Potholes of Life

This picture happened in Montreal. It is known for its many potholes. My youngest daughter's apartment building was affected by a pothole for more than a year when she was in college there. When it comes to potholes, there is no hurry to fix them somehow.

I wonder how I feel if I reside in the house. My knowledge of construction engineering is limited. If a roadway can cave in over time, what will be next?

We are witnessing many potholes on the road of life in our society. Somehow people are content to attribute some of that to Covid 19. I am not sure that is appropriate.

Our entitlement is one those potholes: We feel, as if the whole world owes us something. We think we deserve better without trying to better ourselves.

A pothole can be our fears: Fears dominate us. Fears are everywhere. We are afraid of one another because of Covid 19. We don't know how to face unknowns in the future and the certainty of the present.

Our pride is another pothole: We are confident in our foolishness because of pride. We spit at the face of God by proclaiming that we know ourselves and the world better via some form of an algorithm.

Now we find ourselves living in that house and wonder where we are heading. Maybe we sink further down into the pit of human misery. God has mercy upon us.

"If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory." - Colossians 3: 1-4
