Jan 28th: Being a Prey

I watched a YouTube clip about how a pack of lions lingered and hunted for their prey. They seem to target the weakest or the youngest within the herd. In this clip, they didn't get what they wanted. The stronger buffaloes came to the defense of the younger ones.

When we are tired and weak, we become prey on the evil one. It watches our ways of life and our life priorities to frame his attack. It will appear at the moment when we are most vulnerable to temptation.

Temptation is not an incident. It is a series of events. Sometimes it starts with a desire and a longing. We know it is not right, so we keep it a secret. We didn't stop entertaining it with our minds or with our hearts. Eventually, we will make a plan to act it out.

Staying close to God requires humility and honesty in acknowledging our ungodly longings. The option is either to be devoured by them or not. We all have a choice.

Luke 4: 13

"When the devil had finished all this tempting, he left him until an opportune time."
