Jan 12th, 2023: Walk His Path and Play His Game
I like a feel-good story sometimes. Watching Stetson Bennett IV lead the Bulldogs to the National Football Championship by beating TCU Horned Frogs with a score of 65-7 is one of them. The game itself was not a very good game because it was one-sided.
It was a story of a young player who was told once that he was not good enough and didn't make the team. It was a story of perseverance and commitment. It was a story of taking advantage of the opportunity and making the best of it. It was a story of humility and didn't let success get over one's head.
God has given us a chance to make His team in the world by drafting us. There is no walk-on in His team. Many would not make it through the training camp, and others don't fully fathom the challenges ahead. Some give up due to early setbacks. Some become too proud to play according to the rules. We need to remember that His team will win in the end.
Ecclesiastes 11: 9-10
"Rejoice, O young man, in your youth, and let your heart cheer you in the days of your youth. Walk in the ways of your heart and the sight of your eyes. But know that for all these things God will bring you into judgment. Remove vexation from your heart, and put away pain from your body, for youth and the dawn of life are vanity."
Proverbs 3: 5-6
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths."
