Dec 7th, 2022: Overcoming

When we consider overcoming a challenge in life, it is not a bad idea to reflect on the meaning of Christmas. The challenge we have today is our broken world. It is not that uplifting to read the news around the world. Humanity certainly has an incredible ability to screw up God's creation. We damage one another and then end up blaming God for the outcomes.

It is a fallacy to think that we can fix many problems by pouring more money into them. It has to start with something more fundamental than that. The real struggle for us is to overcome our misguidedness portrayed by our crooked selves. A corrupted self needs redemption more than anything else. 

Christmas is God's provision for that redemption as we learn to overcome our deprived selves. From being broken to being forgiven. From hopelessness to joy. From self-centeredness to service.
