Nov 4th, 2022: Rumble Strips

Rumble strips are helpful during a heavy snowstorm.

They are a safety feature when the weather is out of the norm.

I encountered both black ice and whiteout during a trip to Southern Alberta.

On that day, for some people, it was a trip too far.

Many cars and trucks were in the ditch as the snow continued.

Some had to wait for hours to be rescued.

The first thing we have to do in such weather is to slow down.

Otherwise, we find ourselves to be out.

Rumble strips will make an unpleasant noise and vibrate the car.

They force us to pay attention to our speed and tell us where we are.

Sometimes we need to pay attention to our life rumble strips.

Things might go sideways with our ship.

Paying attention to the discomfort we feel.

We know we don't need to be in a hurry and wait for God to reveal.

Sometimes we cannot see more than one moment at a time.

God might use that opportunity to work with what rumbles within our hearts and minds.

So slowing down helps us to see further ahead.

And we can stay on course as we hope to overcome our troubling spread.

I was grateful I got where I wanted to go safely.

I am even more thankful for the challenging guidance God has given me daily.

Isaiah 41: 13

"For I am the LORD your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you."

Psalm 27: 1

"The LORD is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid?"
