Nov 3rd, 2022: What Do We Say?
What do we say to people who just found out that they have cancer?
Nothing that comes out of our mouths really matters.
What do we say to people who lost their children due to suicide?
Words are empty as we learn to be by their side.
What do we say to people who are hopeless in dealing with depression?
We know their feelings are real, and yet we have no comprehension.
What do we say to mothers whose newborns die at birth?
Nothing much we can do except sit with them for what it is worth.
What do we say when hundreds of young people in Korea die in the Halloween Party stampede?
We have no way to describe our sadness and disbelief that proceeds.
What do we say when a father decides to reject his own family?
It is perplexing, and it is damaging to our sanity.
What do we say to the family of a young police officer who was stabbed to death while on duty?
Nothing can replace her pleasant voice, and we get ready to listen to her funeral homily.
What do we say when thousands of young people are losing their lives due to drug overdose?
Anger and sadness are our prime emotions as we hold them close.
What do we say when God appears to be absent?
Maybe we should do some soul-searching and discover the true meaning of personal advent.
2 Corinthians 1:3
"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God."
John 16:33
"I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."
